Combat Challenges will put Cal against waves of enemies across multiple planetary backdrops from across the galaxy, including the Imperial stronghold Fortress Inquisitorius. Each unique location will feature its own unique challenges, too, allowing for tailor-made experiences that draw from each environment. Different challenges will have different numbers of waves and each will have a three-star completion rating.
What makes these challenges especially unique is that they’ve all been designed for veteran players. They’re designed to be tackled when Cal is at his strongest and most experienced towards the end of the game, so be wary if you decide to take on challenges early in a playthrough. The abilities Cal knows at the time of entering his meditation will be the ones you take into a challenge.
There are 12 challenges in total and each challenge has three stars. Unlocking twelve stars in total, regardless of how many you get per challenge, will give you three new BD-1 appearances.
Star 1: Complete the challenge
Star 2: Complete the challenge without healing
Star 3: Complete the challenge without taking damage[1]
Challenge Breakdowns[]
Below is a breakdown of the enemies faced in each wave of each of the 12 challenges. All pages for individual enemies are linked both at their first appearance as you work through the challenges and also at their first appearance in the last four challenges (which include every enemy between them).
As you can see from the previous point, none of the creatures from Bogano feature in the 'Meditation Arena' challenge. This is likely as a result of Cal's mental separation of Bogano from the rest of the galaxy.
Inquisitor Cal is the AI to appear as an enemy in Combat Challenges but not in the main game.
Strategies[]
In any challenge with Rocket Launcher Stormtroopers, it is possible to run in circles around the other enemies, leaving many of them in the path of rockets. This can be particularly helpful when facing enemies such as the Oggdo, which can be taken out with you having to so much as ignite your lightsaber.
After two bursts of flame, the Flame Troopers will need to reload. This is the time at which they are most vulnerable to attacks.
As in the main game, both the Probe Droid and KX-Series Security Droid can be hacked to turn them to your side. Thus, it is often best to target them first when present.
The Haxion Brood Bounty Droid has an unblockable charge attack which can be very difficult to avoid, since it tracks you across the arena. It also packs quite a punch and thus can be the bane of any attempt to get two or three stars at Jedi Master or Grand Master difficulty. One method to deal with it slowing then pushing/pulling the droid to interrupt the attack, or force jumping over the droid as it approaches, since it cannot do a complete 180 degree spin in mid-attack. These strategies also work for the Ninth Sister's similar attack.
