Prauf was an Abednedo scrapper who worked for the Scrapper Guild on Bracca dismantling Clone War-era military equipment from both Republic and Separatist forces.
In 14 BBY he and fellow scrapper Cal Kestis were involved in breaking down a Venator-class star destroyer when they were ordered by a droid foreman to secure a set of clamps on the destroyer. Prauf convinced Kestis to help with the maneuver in exchange for additional pay, however shortly after the two secured the clamps the wing section of the destroyer unexpected collapsed due to a broken support cable. Prauf and Kestis survived the initial slide down the wing, but Prauf was unable to maintain his hold on the hull, leading Kestis to use the force to save Prauf from falling to his death. Prauf, shaken by his experience, was convinced to keep quiet by Kestis for fear of being found out.
Unfortunately, an imperial surveillance droid had witnessed Kestis' use of the force to save Prauf, and later that evening Prauf, Kestis, and a handful of other Scrappers were intercepted by the Imperial Inquisitors while riding a train. After being forced off the train and into the open, the Second Sister demanded that the Jedi hiding among them come forward or purge troopers would execute everyone present. Prauf stepped forward to protest the Empire and its hold on Bracca, which he said had resulted in "...engineers becoming scrappers and workers getting worked." In response, the Second Sister summarily executed Prauf, leading Kestis to ignite his lightsaber and in so doing revealing himself as the Jedi the Inquisitors were looking for. After a brief scrimmish with imperial forces and the Second Sister, Kestis ultimately escaped from Bracca with the aid of Cere Junda and Greez Dritus aboard the Stinger Mantis.
